Joe Wicks / Cosmic kids/ Jump Start Johnny/ Oti Mabuse official (all available on youtube) –
L.I. – I am learning to stay active and healthy
S.C. – I can begin the day with some activity.
– I can waken up my body and mind by following the instructor.
Reading – This task is the John Muir reading comprehension. There is a choice of mild, Spicy and Hot Challenges. You can select your own level of challenge. The answers are there and will help you if you are really stuck but try not to look at them before you have given it a go yourself. Once you have read the text you will be working on your scanning technique.
Scanning
You begin by selecting a keyword from the question. You then look for that keywords in the text to try to narrow down the part of the biography where the answer can be found. Once you have found this part of the text, read the sentences before and after the sentence containing the keyword. Within these sentences you should be able to find the answer.
L.I. – I am learning to read for information.
S.C. –
- I can read a text with an understanding of its meaning.
- I can look for key words in the text to help me look for the answers to questions.
- I can reform the information in the text as a sentence to answer the question.
John Muir Reading Comprehension
Writing – Complete your planning page and begin to fill out the second page where you plan the structure. Remember the Article needs a headline. A short and snappy sentence that can involve alliteration and puns. The first paragraph is called the lead. It has the main information – who, where, when, what, why and how? The next part gives more information getting quotes from the people involved. This is the main body of the text. The last part is the tail where you end your story. It is good to end with a quote from the person and you may want to link to other good news stories by adding the headlines of the other articles people in the class have written. So please share your article headlines in Teams. I’ll do a call at 10am today to revise this.
L.I. – I am learning to create a newspaper report.
S.C. –
- I can select a writing challenge from the cards.
- I can think about the type of text that I have chosen (layout, type of language, paragraphs).
- I can talk about the Earth and how to preserve it for future generations.
Maths- We are moving onto improper fractions today. At 11 0’clock I will do a call to introduce you to this. You can have a look at the materials I have put in the files before if you have time. If you are happy and confident in the work then you may complete it yourself. There are 3 challenges on Sumdog. Feel free to arrange to go on at the same time as others and you can play against them in there.
L.I. – I am learning to write an improper fraction as a mixed number.
S.C. –
- I can state what an improper fraction is.
- I can write a fraction in words and in numerals.
- I can place a mixed number in the correct place on a number line.
