Good morning to our Primary 1 stars! How has your week been? Do you remember last week we asked what your highlights have been in Primary 1? Let us know what you have enjoyed, learned, found challenging and overall, your ‘favourite bits’. Send us a little email, or make a poster showing this, we would love to hear from you again!
We said we would share some of our highlights, so here they are…
Mrs Gaffney’s highlights:
“Primary 1, my highlights this year have been the way you have had so much fun and enjoyment with the little things. Do you remember the day we had all those pancakes? What did you have on yours, chocolate, syrup, banana, strawberries? They were delicious. The day we went out into the snow and built snowmen and made snow angels, that was a great day. Discovering the inside of the pumpkins and how gross the insides felt, then you had so much fun using tools to screw nails in and out of them. I loved watching the fun you had every week at our football sessions with Kevin and how hard you all try, it is brilliant! I was so proud of you all at the school Nativity where you all played your parts so well and sang your hearts out. I have loved your enthusiasm every week when we visit the school library and how much you enjoy choosing a new book. Do you remember the day we went a walk around Polbeth and you were giving me a guided tour. The messy day we made our own playdough was so much fun too. I love the way you work together as a team and how much we have laughed this year, do you remember how much we laughed because we said the letter ‘f’ was sooooo fancy! I have loved being your teacher this year and think you are a brilliant class and so kind and thoughtful towards each other. Sending you all my love and hugs, Mrs Gaffney XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (1 for each of you)”
Mrs Swanston’s highlights:
“There are lots of special moments we have shared in Primary 1, but I’ll pick out some of my favourites! Firstly, I enjoy starting the mornings by singing and dancing, usually to Fischy Music – it puts a smile on everyone’s face! Every week during Free Writing Friday, we use the interactive timer and you all get so excited when the timer ends (quite noisily!) In preparation for the Christmas fayre, I enjoyed watching you make the Reindeer Dust. You were good at stirring, mixing, pouring, sharing and labelling (and selling!). I like seeing how much pride you take when you write stories and draw beautiful pictures. I especially love to see you working together to build high towers, bridges and rockets at the construction area, and all the creative models and pictures you make at the craft table. I love playing ‘tidy up rhumba’ and you all know what to do! I’ve enjoyed watching friendships blossom with your Primary 7 buddies – they have really helped and supported you throughout your Primary 1 journey. I enjoy when your families come in to our ‘Sharing the Learning’ events and they watch you engage in learning. Finally, I love to see how much you have all grown in confidence and how responsible, loving, caring and enthusiastic you have been. We are very proud of you. Sending out warm wishes to your families and a big hug to you! Love, Mrs Swanston x x x”
Some snap shots of your Home Learning. Thank you to families for sharing this with us:

Use your imagination and have a good think about what you are going to write and draw today. Choose a quiet area and use some time to just write freely! Close your eyes for a moment to have some thinking time before you start your Free Writing.
Reflecting on your feelings:
How are you feeling? Listen to this little story called “The Feelings Book” By Todd Parr. At the end of the story you will hear:
“No matter how you feel, don’t keep your feelings to yourself. Share them with someone you love”.
This story is called the “The Color Monster” and it explores emotions. ‘Color Monster’ is confused and needs help in sorting his mixed-up emotions. Luckily, his friend is there to help.
Have a lovely weekend, boys and girls. We are thinking of you every day. Stay safe and keep looking after each other. Sending a big hug!
