Primary 3 have enjoyed a fantastic first week of outdoor learning. Everyone reported that they loved being outside in the fresh air. We all were wrapped up warm however Mr Sun decided to come out and we were lovely and warm!

We were working on lots of team working skills today, working together to achieve a goal. We identified that we need to listen to each other and think “win – win” and with “the end in mind” to get the job done as we will not always agree with each other so compromise is important.

As a result of looking at different habitats today and creating mini models of habitats we would like to build our very own Bug Hotel in our playground. We enjoyed looking for bugs and identifying where they would like to live. We might need some grown-ups  from home to help us with this as we will need lots of materials.

Here are some examples of Bug Hotels:

Some of the things we will need include:

Wooden Pallets; pipes (different sizes); loose bricks; plant pots; slates; sticks and much more. We have lots of ideas of how we would like it to look as well as what kinds of bugs we would like to visit us!

If you can help with any materials please contact Miss Stenhouse at  wlstmaryspol-ps@westlothian.org.uk

I think Adam sums it up nicely – being outdoors makes us feel happy and calm.
