In Primary 5 we have been investigating the changing states of different substances. We investigated factors that would change water from a solid (ice) to a liquid. We put similar sized pieces of ice onto trays that were the same size and material. We had one control tray that we put out on the table in the middle of the class. We put one tray in a cupboard, one near a heater we wrapped one in a felt coat and placed it next to the control. We predicted which ones would melt first. The decision was split between the one in the jacket and the one near the heater. After 1 hour hear are our results.
The one near the heater melted first. Next were the control and the cupboard trays and last to melt was the one in a coat. we found out that the coat insulated the ice and kept it cold for longer.
