Outdoors -Making Nettle Tea!
Rannoch Class have had a really active week between all the outdoor activities they have been involved in during this part of Health Week. Alice, our Outdoor specialist demonstrated how to ‘forage’ (an act of looking for wild food for free) in the woodland. The boys went looking for young nettle leaves in order to make ‘Nettle’ tea! Alice showed the boys the importance of keeping safe when trying to identify what they could eat from foraging outdoors and what they could not eat. They all had a taste of the nettle tea made some liked it other didn’t! They also helped to build a shelter and sat for a short while in order to enjoy their nettle tea and custard cream! Thank you to Alice for making this so very interesting and fun for the boys.
School Garden
The boys also spent time in the garden, making sure the seed beds were weeded, watered and still safe from pests around like, cats and dogs, ensuring the netting was still in place around them. The lettuce, beetroot and carrots are coming along nicely.
Mrs Saunders & ‘Super Hero’ Fitness
For some extra fitness during Health Week, Mrs Saunders took Rannoch boys along with P4 to the outside field to do some ‘Super hero’ fitness. What fun they had! They really had a go at some of the super fit moves Mrs Saunders demonstrated and all the pupils managed to copy! Thank you Mrs Saunders!
Maths & Language
At the different stages Rannoch Class were learning about ‘Time’ this week. Some learning about whole hours, O Clock, while others were learning half past, quarter past / to and others learning the minutes in between and getting super good at telling the time! Well done boys!
Some of our boys were learning about ‘Homophones’ this week. These are words that have the same sound but different meanings, while some of the others were learning more about the initial phonic sound ‘w’.
Project Work IDL – ‘Space’
Rannoch boys finished their wall frieze they started a couple of weeks ago on ‘Space,’ adding different parts of learning as they went along. Apart from making Space rocket portholes, the boys are also making a really good job of an imaginative story about an adventure into space. This week they were writing about what happened on the journey, in other words the ‘middle’ of the story. Next week Rannoch Class hope to finish their stories. Watch this space!!
Rannoch Class Sports Day
The week ended with Rannoch boys having their own ‘School Sports Day’ in their own bubble, earning points for their own house groups. They had a lot of fun trying all the different stations – some of them weren’t that easy! Well done again boys and thanks to Mrs McMaster for organising this for us.
