P1 literacy in the sunshine

We decided to do our literacy outdoors today because the weather was so nice. We have been focusing on learning how to read and spell Fry’s Common Words. We used chalk to write the words that Mrs Gaffney read out. We used our phonetic skills to sound out the words and to spell them. We then played matching pairs. Instead of the normal game we were each given a word and we had to run around and find the person with the matching word.

David- when we found the matching person we sat down together.

Amelia- we were writing our words using chalk.

Hope – We had to sound out the words and then write it.

Charlie – We had to run and find the matching word.

Maisie – We had to find the person who had the same word as you.

Emma – Leigh- We sat with our partner that had the same word.
