Investigating autumn in P3

In Primary 3 this week we have been look at the science behind why leaves change colour and fall off the trees. We have done some fantastic leave collections!

As we are going to create some autumn art with our leaves we have started the pressing process. We discussed why leaves curl up if you let them try by themselves, what’s happening that makes this happen and how pressing them in paper stops this. After the September holiday we will turn our leaves into art.

In maths we have been working on adding two 2 digit numbers together with no regrouping, in a column. When we come back next week we will be working on column sums with regrouping.

In literacy we have worked on three different sounds, kn, e-e  and ie, we are all doing very well using our Fred fingers to sound out words and identify the special friends. We have also started to look at some of our common words, these can be extra tricky as most of them you cannot sound out.

We finished the week with house awards , some just dance and games during choosing time.

Hope you all have a fabulous September weekend!
