This week is Maths Week Scotland and Primary 7 have been trying different activities with maths in them in order to understand the importance of maths in everything we do.
On Monday we learned all about cryptography and its importance for banks, retailers and businesses. We decrypted five different cyphers (secret codes), discussed which was the most effective and tried writing our own secret messages. On Tuesday we took part in a maths-themed Escape Room challenge! On Wednesday we took to the dance floor to learn about the importance of counting and symmetry in ceilidh dancing and on Thursday we learned about maths in art by creating Curves of Pursuit using only square paper, a pencil and a ruler. Finally, we took part in the Maths Week Sumdog competition. We voted on our favourite activity – it was the Curves of Pursuit art challenge!
Also this week Primary 7 celebrated our new roles of prefects and house/vice captains and were awarded with our badges by Miss Pritchard. Well done on a fantastic week Primary 7 – you have worked spectacularly hard!
