Halloween in Primary 3

We use Halloween to inspire our science this week. Looking at reversible and irreversible changes in science this week and have completed some fun activities to go along with this and to help us understand. First we made chocolate apples, we discussed how we changed the solid chocolate bar into a runny chocolate liquid and then when the chocolate cooled it went hard (solid) again. This generated lots of good discussions about what we could change from a solid to a liquid and then back again.

We then looked at irreversible changes, a change that cannot be taken back. We made icing sugar to ice biscuits, mixing the water with the sugar it turned to a solid. This time we could not change it icing sugar back to power and water.

We had a go at making magic potions of slime we had to carefully follow the instructions and measurements then mixing ingredients together to make our own slime – we all found this lots of fun.

In art we made Sugar Skull pictures, again using our focus and listening skills we had to follow the instructions carefully. We were all very pleased with how our Skulls turned out. We hope you like them!

We also had a go at printing in art. Using apples we made beautiful pumpkin prints.

In maths we have been working hard on our times tables, using our knowledge to solve word problems and applying it to real life situations.

In writing we have been looking at procedural writing and we will look back at our activities this week and use them to write instructions for one of the activities.

To finish the week off we had a fun Halloween party in class! We played games, dances, ate some party food and watched a spooky cartoon!

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
