We have been very busy in class.
Continuing with our IDL topic of ‘Where We Live,’ we went for a local walk to see what we could see. We spotted lots of useful businesses in Polbeth which serve our community. We saw the Vet Surgery, the Fire Station, Scotmid, The Church, the garage and the Chemist. We took photographs and added these to our classroom display.
We also created our own paper bag houses. We looked at the features of a house, windows, doors and roof and we ensured our house had these. They are standing in the class as our own wee streeet.
Spring is almost upon us and we have started to notice signs of Spring. Some of us had noticed Snowdrops appearing in our gardens. We decided it would be lovely to have some Spring flowers in our classroom. We used some recycled fruit tins from the school kitchen as flowerpots and we planted our own Daffodil bulbs. We discussed what a flower needs to grow and we will ensure we continue to water the bulbs to help the Daffodils grow. The flowerpots are on our desks where we can watch the flowers grow and then enjoy the lovely flowers once they appear.
In numeracy our focus is numbers beyond 10. As always we have been learning through play and practical activities. We have been painting the numbers beyond 10, playing Snakes and Ladders, building towers using stacking counters, sorting number cards, playing games on the interactive board, dot to dots and other fun activities.
