Today we had fun learning about Pancake Tuesday. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of a special time in the Church, Lent. During Lent we can give up something, pray more and give alms. We have decided that we will say extra prayers in class every morning. We learned that people used to give up sugar, flour and milk and so they had to use all these ingredients up before Lent and so they made pancakes. We had lots of different toppings to choose from. Chocolate spread, strawberry jam, syrup, bananas and strawberries. We used our own knives to chop up the fruit and spread the toppings on our pancakes.
We than used our motor skills to cut and stick. We made funny pancake faces using fruit pictures.
