This week P4-7 shared their learning in a special assembly to celebrate Black History Month.
Each of our classes took turns to share what we had learned, which included discovering more about black scientists, culture, food and artists, as well as exploring heroes, anti-racist activists, and discussing what it feels like to be discriminated against.
We also welcomed a very special guest – Lyandra, who is a parent of one of our P6 children. She spoke about her childhood growing up in Zambia and shared information about her ancestry, differences in culture and lifestyle and comparisons to Scotland. At the end of the assembly lots of pupils asked some really great questions and everybody learned so much!
Black History Month was a great topic for us to learn about and we all enjoyed contributing to it so very well done upper school!
