On Monday P6 led the Whole School Assembly with the focus being on Remembrance. We shared our learning, which included sharing our thoughts on the importance of Remembrance and what we learned about the poetry of World War One. We also showcased our art displays – a poppy wreath and whole class collage which we have gifted to the Royal British Legion. We were delighted to invite Graham and Ian from the Royal British Legion Scotland to guide us through a special two-minute silence during which they lowered the standard and enabled us to see how this ceremony is performed. Graham is retired from the RAF and Ian is a paratrooper so it was very interesting hearing all about their military careers!
The P6 choir then sang the beautiful song We Will Remember Them and the brass musicians played a lovely fanfare, topped off by The Last Post by our very own talented Miss Pritchard. After this we had a whole school Q&A – with brilliant questions from everyone!
Everyone really enjoyed it and said it was fascinating to hear all about why Remembrance is so important. Well done P6!!
