Investigation work has been ongoing into the impact of the council's education network as a result of the criminal attack.

P2's Recycling Fortnight

Over the last 2 weeks, as part of a whole school topic, P2 have been learning all about recycling. ♻

We started our topic by having a pupil voice planning session as to what we would like to learn and what we already knew. We read through our story book and made a list in our floor book.
We learned about the different coloured bins, what goes in each bin, why it is important that we separate it and where each the rubbish goes. We created our own bins by reusing cardboard boxes, painting them different colours and labelling them. We then used these for a full week to practise separating our rubbish. We spoke about trying to do this at home too and encouraging our family to recycle.

When  discussing recycled paper, we created our own paper!

We spoke about the benefits of compost and separating food waste. We identified the food waste bin in our own school and other settings. We then created our own compost. We spoke about how compost has nutrients from the food and how we can grow flowers in our compost. We then wrote a procedure piece on how to grow a flower.

As part of our targets this term, as a class, we aimed to develop our research skills. We researched save the earth posters and information after talking about clean energy. We spoke about solar panels and types of energy alongside how to recycle batteries.

We spoke about donating and upcycling clothes and other items. We spoke about how someone may have a use or a need for something you might not need anymore. We also spoke about reusable bags and the policy in place to encourage use of biodegradable products.
We ended our topic by creating recycling monsters. We gave our monsters bins for arms and legs, our own made paper for hair, a reusable bag for clothes and a recycling symbol on our the clothes.
