A Day out for P5
Primary 5 had a fabulous day out in Edinburgh to end our topic on Mary Queen of Scots. We explored some of the sights on the Royal Mile including the grave of David Riccio, we visited the old royal stables, John Knox house and tried to get a bit of good luck at the Heart of Midlothian! Yuk!
We then spent the afternoon at Holyroodhouse Palace learning about the life and times of Mary, examined May artefacts from that time period and even got to visit her bedroom! The point of most interest was the large blood stain on the floorboards rumoured to be the place where David Riccio, Mary’s private secretary, fell after being attacked! Unfortunately photos were not allowed in the palace but we got plenty at other points in the day. It was a great day out.
I also took this picture as we were leaving as it caught my attention. It is a school trip to the palace which took place 100 years ago! I’m sure that they enjoyed it just as much as we did!
